Abstract
Ljudi su još tisuću godina prije Krista otkrili kako štititi metalne konstrukcije. Potreba za time seže i do danas. Nama najznačajnija je zaštita konstrukcijskog materijala broda. U tu svrhu danas se koriste zaštitni premazi i katodna zaštita. Premazi služe kako bi se oplata odvojila od vanjskih utjecaja te štite od korozije i obraštanja. Kako bi premaz bio funkcionalan važna je priprema površine te pravilno nanošenje premaza. Kada dođe do oštećenja premaza, metal je opet izložen utjecaju mora. Iz tog razloga se na brodove ugrađuje i katodna zaštita u obliku žrtvovanih anoda ili sustava s narinutom strujom. Elemente katodne zaštite važno je rasporediti po brodu kako bi cijela oplata bila pod utjecajem. Ove metode zaštite veoma su važne u modernom brodarstvu kako bi se povećala učinkovitost poslovanja.
Abstract (english)
People have known abut protection od metal construction since the period before Christ. Need of material protection reaches until today. For our field, the most important is the protection of ships construction material. For that purpose, protective coatings and cathodic protection is used. Coatings are used to separate the ships hull from outside impact and to stop corrosion and fouling. It is of the utmost importance that surface preparation is done well and coating is applied according to rules. When coating is damaged, metal is again in contact with water. For that reason ships are equipped with sacrificial anodes or impressed current cathodic protection. Parts of cathodic protection must be arranged along side ship so the whole hull is protected. These protection methods are viable in modern shipping industry as a way of increasing operation efficiency.
