Abstract

Line maritime passenger traffic is of great importance for almost all European countries, irrespective of the regions where they are located. Line passenger traffic used mainly residents of islands and distant places of individual countries, and in season that traffic increases due to tourists that in this cheap way traveling to their final destination. Problem of line passenger traffic creates an increasing incidence and dominance of air traffic, whose prices are constantly falling from the appearance of low-cost airlines. For this reason, it is evident decline in traffic of passengers in maritime transport. Add to this the inadequate equipment and functionality of harbor line passenger traffic, we come to the problem that is discussed in this paper. The focus of this paper is on the Mediterranean, the most crowded, most famous and most important intercontinental sea in the world. The name Mediterranean refers primarily to the Mediterranean Sea, and in a broader aspect and the surrounding area which it gravitates. For Croatia, which is part of the Mediterranean, this is the most important maritime passenger teritories.
