Abstract
Svjetski pomorski sustav pogibelji i sigurnosti (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) predstavlja tehničku, operativnu i administrativnu strukturu za pomorske sigurnosne komunikacije u slučaju pogibelji. Uvođenje GMDSS-a započelo je 1. veljače 1992. godine, a nakon 1. veljače 1999. godine GMDSS je postao obvezan za sve putničke brodove na međunarodnim putovanjima i za teretne brodove veće od 300 BT na međunarodnim putovanjima. U ovome radu autor je podijelio GMDSS u četiri kategorije: terestrički segment, satelitski segment, uređaji za navođenje i lociranje, sustav pomorskih sigurnosnih informacija (MSI). Na kraju svakog segmenta obrazložen je koncept razvoja i nedavnih promjena s obzirom na IMO plan modernizacije koji je trenutno u izradi. Plan modernizacije GMDSS-a trebao bi stupiti na snagu 2024. godine.
Abstract (english)
The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) is the technical, operational and administrative structure for maritime distress and safety communications worldwide. The start of implementation of GMDSS equipment is 1 February 1992, and after 1 February 1999 GMDSS was mandatory on every passenger ship in international voyages and on every cargo ship in international voyages over 300 GT. In this paper author has divided GMDSS in four categories: terrestrial segment, satellite segment, systems for homing and locating, systems for promulgation of Maritime Safety Information (MSI). At the end of every segment, a basic concept is given of recent developments and future development according to IMO’s plan of modernization that is currently under construction. GMDSS modernization plan is set to enter into force in 2024.
