Abstract
S obzirom na povećanje prometa u svijetu, pojavom i širenjem globalizacije došlo je do potrebe za bržim, efikasnijim, sigurnijim i ekonomičnijim načinom povezivanja. Klasična prometna infrastruktura i suprastruktura nije dovoljno kompetentna za daljnji razvitak prometa u svijetu te je došlo do povećane potrebe inteligentnih sustava upravljanja prometom koji svojim karakteristikama puno olakšavaju razne svakodnevne prometne probleme. Inteligentni sustavi upravljanja prometom u realnom vremenu šalju informacije do vozača, putnika i ostalih sudionika u prometu i obratno. Takav način funkcioniranja je puno napredniji jer olakšava vozaču samu vožnju, različitim senzorima pomaže kod parkiranja prijevoznih sredstava, međusobno mimoilaženje vozila, snalaženje na cestama, pronalazak ekonomičnijih, bržih i boljih cesta, usmjerava vozila na manje zakrčene ceste i mnoge druge pogodnosti. U radu su prikazane temeljne značajke i razvoj inteligentnih sustava u prometu, inteligentni sustavi u cestovnom prometu i tehnologije inteligentnih transportnih sustava.

Due to increasing traffic in the world, the emergence and expansion of globalization, there was a need for a faster, more efficient, safer and more economical way of connecting. Classical transport infrastructure and superstructure is not competent enough for the further development of transport in the world and there was an increased need of intelligent traffic management systems that, with their characteristics facilitate a lot of various everyday traffic problems. Intelligent traffic management systems in real time began to send information to the driver, passengers and other road users, and vice versa. This way of functioning is more advanced because it facilitates the driving, various sensors help with parking and bypassing of vehicles, helps in navigating the roads, finding cost-effective, faster and better roads, directing cars to less congested roads and many other benefits. The thesis shows the fundamental features and the development of intelligent traffic systems, intelligent systems in road transport and technology of intelligent transport systems.
