Abstract (english)
<p>The transport system causes extremely harmful consequencesfor society and the environment. It is manifestedthrough the increased emission of harmful exhaust gases,traffic congestions, traffic accidents, increased level ofnoise, higher levels of stress and various diseases of all participantsof the transport system and society in general. Theimplementation and modernization of intermodality throughthe Motorways of the Sea (MoS) as its ecological and socio-economic sustainable subsystem is the efficient way ofreducing the above mentioned consequences. Further sustainabledevelopment of MoS can be observed according tothe ecological and socio-economic criteria and sub-criteriaset out in this paper in order to keep it in direct function ofprotecting the society and preserving the environment.</p>
