Abstract
Republika Hrvatska u tom kontekstu slijedi odgovarajuće direktive Europske unije.

This thesis titled REGULATING MARINE SPATIAL PLANNING IN THE EUROPEAN UNION deals with the issue of regulating spatial planning in the European Union. The maritime environment is specific in its components, since the coast of the majority of the population and important ecological areas are situated along the coastal line. The importance of marine spatial planning reflects in the support of environmental sustainability coastal and marine systems, which are among the world's most exploited areas. Applying the principles of Integrated Coastal Zone Management and the systematic application of marine spatial planning the problems of sustainable development of the coastal areas can reduce the problems of sustainable development of the coastal areas. The European Union has a regulatory framework, which provides guidelines for marine spatial planning of the Member States, but it still depends on the organization of these states, the specifics of their coastal areas and development. The Republic of Croatia follows subject matter directives of the European Union.
