Abstract
Ideja o podmorskim kabelskim sustavima rodila se još u 19. stoljeću koja se u to vrijeme bazirala na telegrafskoj tehnologiji. Sredinom 20. stoljeća se počela razvijati podvodna telefonija da bi se 80-ih godina 20. stoljeća počeli razvijati prvi podmorski optički kabelski sustavi koji su omogućavali puno opširniju primjenu. Podmorski optički kabeli su vrlo složeni te moraju osigurati zaštitu vlakana od vodenog pritiska, uzdužne propagacije vode, kemijskih učinaka itd.. Ovisno o specifikacijama sustava možemo koristiti različite kombinacije više vrsta vlakana. U četvrtoj cjelini su izdvojeni članci iz Konvencije o pravu mora koji se odnose na podmorske optičke kabele. Proces polaganja kabela je složen proces koji se sastoji od istraživanja morskog puta, dizajniranja i čišćenja rute, sastavljanja sustava na kopnu i utovara na brod za polaganje kabela te samog polaganja na morsko dno. Također, podmorski kabelski sustavi su podložni popravcima i starenju. Vijek trajanja zahtijeva zadovoljenje određenih privremenih granica, a te granice se nazivaju marginama segmenata. Na kraju rada su opisani sustavi sa i bez optičkih pojačala te opisane razlike između njih.
Abstract (english)
The idea of underwater cable systems was born in the 19th century, which was based on telegraph technology at the time. In mid-20th century, underwater telephony began to develop in order to develop the first submarine fiber optic cable systems in the 80s, which enabled much more extensive application. Submarine fiber optic cables are very complex and must provide protection against water pressure, longitudinal water propagation, chemical effects, etc. Depending on the specification of the system we can use different combinations of multiple types of fibers. In the fourth chapter, articles from the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea related to underwater optical cables are listed. The cable laying process is a complex process consisting of a marine route survey, route design and clearance, system assembly and loading to cable ship and cable laying work itself. Also, underwater cable systems are subject to repair and aging. The design life requires some provisional margins to be satisfied. These margins are called segment margins. At the end, systems with and without optical amplifiers and their differences are described.
