Abstract
Cilj ovog rada je pregled, analiza i komentar na postupke brodske posade, ponašanje i posljedice takvog ponašanja koje je uzrokovalo požar na brodu. Kao primjer izabrana je nesreća broda Yeoman Bontrup za koju je kriv primarno ljudski faktor. U nesreći požar je nastao u brodskom prostru za manipulaciju teretom, a razlog požara je prestanak stalnog motrenja i straže nakon varenja. Brod je bio privezan u luci u kojoj vatrogasci nisu bili uvježbani za gašenje unutrašnjosti broda i takvog tipa požara te je posljedica bila veliki požar i eksplozija na krmenom djelu broda. Iako je za požar bio prvenstveno kriv ljudski faktor, analizom ove pomorske nezgode utvrdilo se kako bi šteta bila uvelike smanjena da su se u konstrukciji koristili skuplji, negorivi materijali. Nakon nesreće kompanija se obvezala uvesti u uporabu protupožarne materijale te konstantno ulagati u edukaciju ljudskih resursa odnosno posade.
Abstract (english)
The goal of this dissertation is to provide an overview and make an analysis of, as well as give commentary on the actions of a ship's crew and the consequences of those actions which caused a fire on the ship. The accident on the ship Yeoman Bontrup was chosen as the main example due to the human factor which was established as the main cause of the fire. In the accident, the fire began in the cargo hold as a result of negligent behavior after welding. Even though human error was the main reason for the fire, subsequent analysis of the accident established that the damage would have been greatly reduced if more expensive and fire resistant materials had been used in construction. After the accident the company committed to using fire resistant materials along with investing in the education of the workforce.
