Abstract
Astronomska navigacija je klasična grana navigacije koja se bavi pitanjima i metodama kako se koristiti nebeskim tijelima za određivanje i kontrolu položaja broda na otvorenom moru. Za razumijevanje metoda astronomske navigacije te pomagala kojima se navigator služi u primjeni tih metoda potrebno je poznavanje jednog dijela opće i sferne astronomije. Astronomija je nauka koja proučava nebeska tijela: njihov položaj, gibanje, zakone po kojima se ono vrši, njihove oblike, dimenzije, daljine, veličine i mase, njihovu fizikalnu prirodu i kemijski sastav, njihovu prošlost i budućnost. Metode astronomske navigacije su skup matematičkih zakonitosti koje, iz pravilne izmjene položaja nebeskih tijela, omogućuju orijentaciju na otvorenom moru.
Abstract (english)
Astronomical navigation is a classic navigation branch dealing with issues and methods to be used by the celestial bodies to determine and control the position of an open sea ship. To understand the methods of astronomical navigation, and the aids the navigator serves in the application of these methods, it is necessary to know one part of general and spherical astronomy. Astronomy is a science that studies the celestial bodies: their position, their movements, their laws, their forms, their dimensions, their distance, their size and their mass, their physical nature and their chemical composition, their past and their future. The methods of astronomical navigation are a set of mathematical principles that, by correctly changing the position of celestial bodies, allow for orientation on the open sea.
