Maritime transport is the cheapest branch of transport and it is often the only way to transport goods across continents and between lands and islands. Organized and cheap maritime transport has a significant role in the overall global economy, and the economy of all countries od the world depends on maritime transport. Good quality and good management is of big importance, and it can therefore be said that the success of shipping management depends largerly on quality management which is of utmost importance with regard to the management od maritime companies, as a whole, their functions and organizational parts. The main challange for 21st century is defining, assessing, managing, improving and managing management as a discipline, which task is to enable the organization to apply all resources and knowledge in the best possible form when it comes to both ordinary and shipping companies. The latest solutions in developing and shaping the organization of maritime companies and maritime management will continue to be present, but new, more suitable solutions will be constantly sought, adapted to the new business conditions.
