Abstract
Globalizacijom u svjetskom društvu došlo je do povećanja proizvodnje i tržišta roba i sve veće povezanosti država i gradova između kojih se javila potreba za trgovinom i prijevozom velike količine tereta. Kao najjeftiniji i najpristupačniji oblik prijevoza tereta nametnuo se prijevoz brodovima koji su svojim dizajnom i krakteristikama kroz generacije proizvodnje bili sve veći i omogućavali maksimalnu iskoristvost površine broda za smještaj tereta. Usporedo sa razvojem kontejnerskih brodova razvili su se i kontejneri u kojima je teret smješten i zaštićen od negativnih utjecaja. Ovim radom prikazat će se razvoj i obilježja kontejnerskih brodova te njihov utjecaj na moderan prijevoz tereta kojim je omogućeno ekonomski isplativ način prijevoza velike količine tereta od mjesta ukrcaja do mjesta iskrcaja kroz moderne kontejnerske terminale.
Abstract (english)
Globalization in the world society led to an increase in the production and market of goods and the increasing connectivity of countries and cities, between which there has been a need for trade and transportation of large quantities of cargo. As the cheapest and most accessible form of cargo transportation which was imposed, was transportation by ships with their design and characteristics through the generations of production, were getting bigger and made it possible to maximize the use of the ship's surface for cargo accommodation. Parallel to the development of container ships, containers were also developed in which the cargo is placed and protected from negative influences. This paper will present the development and characteristics of container ships and their influence on modern cargo transportation, which enabled an economically profitable way of transporting a large amount of cargo from the place of loading to the place of unloading through modern container terminals.
